Ellen Jane Rivers, 78, of Grove Hill died June 11, 2008 at a Mobile hospital.
She was born Nov. 6, 1929. She was a native of Jackson. She was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church. She was a member of the Sonshine Club, Adult Ladies Assistant Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Alabama Association for Family and Community Education. She served as Heart Fund Chairman of the Alabama Heart Association for several years. She was a retired purchasing secretary for Allied Paper Mill in Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Herndon Rivers, Grove Hill; one daughter, Kay Rivers (Jimmy) Paul, Grove Hill; one brother, Max P. Mitchem, Cedar Bluff; two sisters, Meloise Blount, Story, Ark., Ethel Baggett, Mobile; two grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Parmer, James Andrew Paul; three great- grandchildren, Anna Faith Parmer, Ellen Frances Parmer, Mary Paul Parmer.
The service was June 13 at 11 a.m. at Tompkins Baptist Church with Revs. Don Newton and Jerry Gibson officiating. Burial was in the Tompkins Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill. Lathan Funeral Home directed.

Honorary pallbearers were Reginald J. Rivers Jr., James Griffin, Don Joiner, Martin Baggett, Ken Baggett, members of the Adult VI Senior Ladies Sunday School class and members of the North Allen Homemakers Club.
