Flave McGilberry, 84, of Pine Hill died June 18, 2008 at his residence.

He was born Oct. 24, 1923 in Pine Hill. He was a retired farmer and logger. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Essie Morgan McGilberry, Pine Hill; two sons, Peter Frank (Betty Jane) McGilberry, Sweet Water, James Flave (Sherry) McGilberry, Pine Hill; four daughters, Velma Gwen (Herb) Whittington, Dothan, Betty Lou (Bob) Christian, Virginia June Rush, both of Pine Hill, Mary Ann (Zia) Jamshidian, San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Frankie (Bob) Gibson, Jackson, Mendy Evans, Arlington, Ann Riggins, Pine Hill; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was June 21 at 10 a.m. at the County Line Cemetery with Revs. Marvin Smith and Jim Arnold officiating. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the Alabama Baptist Children's Home.

Active pallbearers were Thomas Earl Evans, Johnny Evans, Charlie Evans, Mack Harris, Scott Harris and Tim Leatherwood.

Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Stoudenmire, David Rush, Gerald Dewayne Morgan, Howard Leatherwood, Don Gibson, Keith McGilberry, Pat Riggins, Tommy Maness and the deacons of County Line Baptist Church.
