The Grove Hill Darlings (7 & 8- year-old) all-stars lost 12-1 to Hartselle in the championship game Monday night in Montgomery at Lagoon Park, finishing as the state runner-up.

This team was the first one from Grove Hill to ever advance that far in state tournament play.

Allie Wilson went 2-for-2 with an RBI. N'Seya Morrissette had two hits. Casen Young had a hit and a run. Ashley Daffin and Breanna Reed each had a hit.

Grove Hill advanced to the title game by eliminating East Montgomery 12-7 Sunday afternoon.

Tyra Williams went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Morrissette was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBI. Wilson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs. Abbey Luker had a hit, two RBI and one run scored. Young and Kayla Chapman each had a hit, a run scored and an RBI. Daffin had a hit and RBI and two runs scored. Madison Newton had a double and RBI. Mariah Ezell had a hit and RBI. Taya Williams and Reed had a hit and run scored.

Saturday night Grove Hill suffered their first loss of the tournament in a 17-4 decision to Hartselle.

Daffin was 2-for-2 with a double and RBI. Young was 2-for-2 with a homer, two RBI and a run scored. Morrissette was 2-for-2 with a double, triple and a run scored. Luker and Taya Williams each had a hit. Wilson added an RBI. Reed and Chapman each scored a run.

Earlier that day Grove Hill broke out the whipping sticks as they beat Geneva 21-6.

Wilson went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs. Young was 2- for-3 with a double, five RBI and three runs. Daffin was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs. Morrissette was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Newton was 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI and two runs. Tyra Williams was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Luker and Olivia Jordan each had a hit and an RBI. Reed and Chapman each had a hit and two runs. Tyra Williams had a hit and an RBI.

Grove Hill opened the state tournament last Friday by beating Montgomery American 20- 14. It was the first time a Grove Hill all-star team had won a game at the state tournament level.

Wilson was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Young was 2-for-4 with two runs and six RBI. Daffin was 2- for-4 with two runs and a double. Luker was 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI. Ezell was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Morrissette had a hit, an RBI and two runs. Newton was 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Tyra Williams was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Taya Williams and Chapman each had a hit. Reed scored two runs.

Of the girls on the team, 11 will be moving up to the 9 & 10-yearold league next year. That age group also advanced to the Dixie Girl's state softball tournament this year.
