Hildred Dean, 80, of Jackson died Aug. 13, 2008 at his residence.
He was affiliated with the Clarke County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Clarke County Voters League. He was also a member of the Boise Cascade Retirement Association. He was a member of Vernal Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the deacon board and superintendent of the Sunday school. He also served as president of the Union Missionary District SS & BTU Congress. He was retired from Boise Cascade as a chemical car unloader.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris "Doshia" Dean, Jackson; one son, Derrick Dean, Montgomery; six daughters, Linda Smith, Eleanor Parker, Margaret Dean, Diane Tucker, all of Jackson, Debbie Moore, Montgomery, Bonita Lee, DeSoto, Texas; one brother, Rev. Frank B. Dean, Jackson; 11 grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.
The service was Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Vernal Chapel Baptist Church. Burial was in the Vernal Baptist Church Cemetery. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
