Ronnie Pugh Jr., a native of Jackson and resident of Huntsville, died Aug. 23, 2008 at the age of 24. A lifelong member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church No. 1 of Grove Hill, he also sang in the Inspirational Divine Mass Choir. Valedictorian of the 2002 graduating class of Coffeeville High School, Pugh attended Alabama A&M University in Normal majoring in electrical engineering and was employed at West Telecommunications in Huntsville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nicholas V. K. Pugh.
Survivors include his parents, Ronnie and Brenda A. Pugh Sr. of Jackson; one daughter, Paris A. Jackson of Huntsville; three sisters, Veronica (Dedric) Dixon of Jackson, Crystal N. Pugh of Tuscaloosa and Johnnie F. Pugh of Denver, Colo.; brother, Ozzie S. Pugh of Tuscaloosa; and maternal grandmother, Claudia Roper of Grove Hill.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 29, 6-8 p.m. at the Berry's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church on Berry's Chapel Road in Winn. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 30, preceded by a viewing from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 12 noon at Berry's Chapel. The Rev. Edward Seaborn, pastor, and the Rev. Linda F. Hollinger will be the officiating ministers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.
