      Henrietta Fox, 86, of Jackson died Sept. 11, 2008 at her residence. She was born Feb. 13, 1922. She was a member of the New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in the Lily Valley community of Jackson. Survivors include five sons, Theodore Fox, Archie Fox, M. W. Fox, Leroy Fox, all of Jackson, Joe Fox of Detroit, Mich.

      Clarence McVay, 77, of Jackson died Sept. 8 at Jackson Health Care. He was born Dec. 16, 1930. He was a member of Jackson Street Baptist Church. He also served in the United States Army. Survivors include a cousin, Creana Dell Bumpers, Grove Hill; his caregiver, Fannie Mae Tiggs, Jackson, and other relatives.

      Andrew Lamar Counselman Jr., 69, of Jackson died Sept. 13, 2008 at an area hospital in Clarke County. He was born Sept. 27, 1938. He was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church of Jackson.       Bryant Elijah Jordan, 84, of Grove Hill died Sept. 9, 2008 at his residence. He was born Aug. 29, 1924. He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

      Daniel Duncan Monk, 28, of Duluth, Ga. died Sept. 10, 2008 from a reaction to prescription medicines. He was born Sept. 11, 1979 in Atlanta, Ga. He was a 1998 graduate of Duluth High School. He played on the varsity basketball team He was a paratrooper with 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was a decorated combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

      Bessie Laiffette Poe, of Mobile died Sept. 6, 2008 at a local hospital. She was a native of Gosport. She was employed for nearly 20 years as a mental health worker at Charter Hospital. She was a member of Holmes Street Baptist Church before her health failed. At church, she had been a member of the senior choir and the missions.

      William Woodrow Purvis, 93, of Mount Vernon died Sept. 13, 2008 at an area health care facility. He was a native of Coffeeville. He was a deacon at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church. He was a longtime member of the Mount Vernon Rescue Squad. He retired from Searcy Hospital.
