Barnett rushes for 218 yards on 33 carries in win
      GROVE HILL—The Clarke County High School Bulldogs accomplished two things last Friday night as they beat the B.C. Rain Raiders 33-0 at H.G. Prim Stadium. They kept their playoffs chances in their own hands and they got a big homecoming win.

Grove Hill Pee Wee football league still churning along
      The Grove Hill Pee Wee Dawgs traveled to Leroy last Saturday to take on the junior teams in Bear Country. In the Mini-mite game GH won 36-0. Harris Gates scored on a 52- yard run. Caleb Taite added a 50- yard touchdown run. Charles Beckham had a 2-point conversion in the game.

THS Tigers beat Andalusia
      The Thomasville Tigers traveled to Andalusia this past Friday, and defeated the Andalusia High School Bulldogs 21-6 in an important region match-up for both teams. With the win, the Tigers improved their season mark to 4-2 and moved to 3-1 in the region.

Lady Gators move to 9-1 in region standings
      The Clarke Prep School Lady Gators improved to 12-4-1 on the season and 9-1 in the region as the swept a tri-match in Grove Hill last Thursday. The fifth-ranked Lady Gators beat Southern 25-20, 25-23 and 15-9. Whitney Larrimore was 14-of- 15 serving with 11 hits, three kills and three aces. Lindsay Jordan was 10-for-10 serving with seven hits and a kill.

AHSAA changes grid bracket again
      The pre-drawn bracket for the 2008 football playoff of the Alabama High School Athletic Association has been revised to allow all region winners the opportunity to be host teams in the first two rounds. The five-week playoff begins Nov. 7 and concludes with the Super 6 championships Dec. 4-6 at Birmingham's Legion Field.

Jackson destroys UMS-Wright 39-14 in region clash
      The Jackson Aggies responded after an emotional loss to Leroy with a 39-14 drubbing of the No. 4 UMS Wright Bulldogs Friday night at Legion Field. The victory snapped a 45- game win-streak in 4A Region play for the Dawgs while thrusting the Aggies (5-1) firmly in first place with a 4-0 record in region play.

JA Eagles break through Open Door 21-6
      The Jackson Academy Eagles got their first win since Oct. 6, 2006 by beating the Open Door Christian Eagles 21-6 Friday night at Parham Stadium-Mc- Corquodale Field. The Eagles got the scoring started with 8:22 in the first quarter when quarterback Trent Slayton snuck in from 1 yard out. Max Harrell tacked on the extra point to give JA an early 7-0 lead.

Soccer registration in T'ville on Oct. 18
      Registration for the 2008 soccer season will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m., at Gates Drive Park in front of the concession stand. This is a one day registration. Parents may also register, Wednesday, October 14th through Friday October 17th, 2008, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
