Barbara J. "Snapper" Todd Daffin, 85, of Mobile died Oct. 6, 2008 at a Mobile hospital.
She was born Oct. 15, 1922. She was a native and former longtime resident of the Toddtown community in Clarke County. She was a longtime member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church No. 2 where she served as church clerk for 50 years in various other capacities until her health failed. She was a member of Pine Chapel #2 Women's Progressive Club, choir member, Sunday school/BTU, congress assistant secretary/financial secretary - Bethel Baptist Convention. She was a retired child-nutrition manager for Clarke County Middle School in Grove Hill. She retired from the Clarke County Board of Education after 26 years as a child nutritionist. She was educated in the Clarke County Public School System and graduated from Thomasville Normal Industrial High School in 1943.
Survivors include six sons, Grady Daffin, Larry Dunham, Asberry Daffin Jr., all of Jackson; Roosevelt Daffin, Huntsville, Yancy Daffin, Mount Vernon, Kendall Daffin, Zimco; three daughters, Wynona Young, Barbara Tigner, both of Atlanta, Ga., Joan Yates, Mobile; two sisters, Mittie Beckham, Grove Hill, Nettie Vinson, Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Crissie Todd, Cincinnati, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Asberry Daffin Sr., parents, one brother and two sisters.
The service was Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. at Pine Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church in Toddtown with Rev. Robert Smith Sr. officiating. Burial was in the Pine Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church Cemetery. Reese Funeral Home on Bessemer Avenue in Prichard directed.
