Linda Faye Overton Nettles, 59, of Chatom died Oct. 22, 2008 at Washington County Hospital in Chatom.

She was born Feb. 7, 1949 in Fulton. She was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church in Chatom. She had worked as a nurse for the Washington County Board of Education.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Cornelius Nettles Sr., Chatom; her father, Jacob Lewis Overton, Lower Peach Tree, her mother, Marguerite Overton, Lower Peach Tree; one son, Joseph Cornelius Nettles Jr., Muscle Shoals; one daughter, Sherri Elizabeth Nettles McAlpine, Demopolis; three brothers, Lewis Overton, Terry Overton, Bob Overton, all of Lower Peach Tree; four sisters, Betty Overton King, June Newton, Sandra Chaney, all of Thomasville, Cheryl Strohm, Glenshaw, Pa.; four grandchildren.

The service was Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at Patrician Academy with a second service immediately following at Arlington United Methodist Church with Revs. Tony Hughes and Holley Morales officiating. Burial was in the Arlington United Methodist Church Cemetery. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Active pallbearers were Herbie Malone, Sam McCorkle, Leo Wright, David Bryant, Jimmy Duncan, Lewis Overton, Terry Overton and Bob Overton.

Honorary pallbearers were Mama Nettles Former Football Players.
