Gray

Hendryx Wyatt Gray, 57, of Jackson and Destin, Fla. died Nov. 29, 2008 at his residence in Jackson after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

He was born March 4, 1951. He was a graduate of Marion Institute and Georgia Tech. He was a member of Ft. Walton Beach Elks Club and a lifetime member of Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a special love of the woods and enjoyed playing golf at the beach. He was president of Gray Timber, Inc. He was in the banking business for 21 years in Atlanta, Ga.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Janet French Gray, Destin, Fla. and Jackson; three daughters, Leslie Gray (Brandon) Stricklin, Christy Gray, Katy Gray, all of Destin, Fla.; two brothers, John Michael (Debbie) Gray III, Groton, Conn., Marion Glover (Judy) Gray III, The Woodlands, Texas; one sister, Brenda Gray (Charlie) Jacklin, Palo Alto, Calif.; many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Michael Gray Jr. and Marion Glover Gray, both of Jackson and Destin, Fla.

The service was Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hometown Hospice, P.O. Box 403, Jackson, AL 36545 or to the American Cancer Society.

Active pallbearers were Jerry Andrews, Dave Byerly, Colin Barker, Jay Betts, Bob Bowling, Mike Furr, Richard Skipper and Kevin Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers were John Duff, Andy Furr, Foley, Bryant Bolen, George Skipper, III.
