Never-ending battle

Bill and Marion Hearn have adopted a stretch of Highway 84 near their home just west of Grove Hill and work hard to keep it cleared of litter. Numerous plastic trash bags lined the roadway now that the Hearns have picked up. The state will collect and dispose of the bags. The Adopt-AMile sign shown here has been riddled with shots but that hasn't deterred the Hearns from their jobs. A lot of county citizens work hard to keep roadways clean. However, too many other citizens thoughtlessly throw garbage on the roadsides, making it a never-ending battle! Photo by Jim Cox
