Duke

Velma Wilson Duke, 92, of Jackson died Dec. 30, 2007 at her daughter's residence in Mobile.

She was born Aug. 12, 1915. She was a native of Winn. She was a member of McCann's United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Survivors include one son, Rodney (Alice) Duke, Collins, Miss.; four daughters, Nathalie (Howard) Bricker, Tampa, Fla., Joyce (Lavoyd) Hudson, Mobile, Lena Duke, Jackson, Mary Swift, Tacoma, Washington; two sisters, Annie Mae Eberlein, Jackson, Bessie Rudd, Weaversville, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Duke, two daughters, Barbara Edeker, Janiece Duke;

The service was Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Winn. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McCann's United Methodist Church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church or to the Salvation Army.
