Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs capture tourney titles

The Clarke County High School Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs each captured the championships of their Holiday Tournament this past Saturday night in Grove Hill.

The Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Aggies of Jackson 53-39 in the title game before a packed house.

The game was tied 23-23 at the half, and it was in the fourth quarter when CCHS pulled away with 17-4 scoring run to get the win.

Erica Moore led Clarke County with 16 points. Keisha Coates added 13 points. Kiara Gildersleeve pulled down 10 rebounds, had two steals and three steals

Genesis Bernard led JHS with 14 points while Raven Tiggs added 10 points.

Bulldogs beat Linden

The CCHS Bulldogs beat the Patriots of Linden 80-59 to win their tourney in the last game Saturday night.

Kenneth Kimbrough led the way with 19 points and five steals. James Burroughs added 16 points, six rebounds, four steals and five assists. Deforest Taite had 12 points.

Sean Richardson led Linden with 16 points.

Lady Bears take third place

In the girls bracket consolation game Leroy beat Linden 63-49 Saturday afternoon.

Chaniqua McMorris and Ada Collins each had 18 points to lead Leroy. Jackie Howell added 10 points.

The Lady Patriots were paced by Kristi Lloyd's 20 points.

Friday, December 28

Thomasville's Lady Tigers eliminated the Lady Hurricanes of Flomaton 44-29 on the second day of the tournament.

Rowe led THS with 10 points, Westbrooks had eight points. Witherspoon added seven points.

Mallet had eight points to lead Flomaton. Cayson added seven points.

Jackson sent Leroy to the loser's bracket as they beat the lady Bears 52-36.

Raven Tiggs led the Lady Aggies with 21 points. Brittanee Crayton added nine points.

Chaniqua McMorris led LHS with 19 points.

In the lone boys game Linden eliminated Excel 51-41 to advance to the title game.

Sean Richardson led Linden with 17 points. Kendarius Goodwill added 13 points. Gary Williams added 10 points.

Steven Brown had 11 points to pace Excel. Dalton Stuckey added nine points.

The CCHS Lady Bulldogs downed the Lady Patriots of Linden 55-33.

Erica Moore had 13 points to pace CCHS. Keshia Coates added 11 points. MeMe Martin had 10 points. Kiara Gildersleeve had seven rebounds and three steals.

Terrica Craig led Linden with 10 points. Meagin Hinton had seven points.

Thursday, Dec. 27

The Lady Aggies of Jackson edged the Lady Tigers of Thomasville 48- 43 in the first game of the Holiday Tournament.

Raven Tiggs led Jackson with 15 points. Genesis Bernard had 13 points. Brittanee Crayton had nine points.

Rowe led the Lady Tigers with 16 points.

Clarke County opened tourney play by beating the Lady Hurricanes 52-20.

Erica Moore led CCHS with 12 points, four rebounds and six steals. Ebony Hughes added eight points. MeMe Martin had seven points, four rebounds and three steals. Jamie Gildersleeve had five points, seven rebounds and a steal.

T. Gafford led Flomaton with six points.

The CCHS Bulldogs held off a feisty Excel team in the last game Thursday night with a 61-51 win.

Justin Burroughs led the Bulldogs with 10 points, seven steals and three assists. Kenneth Kimbrough had 10 points. Deforest Taite added seven points and four steals.

The Bulldog teams return to regular play after the New Year holiday when they host Mobile Christian in their first area match of the season.
