Community Foundation of South Ala. grants benefit agencies in this area The Community Foundation of South Alabama recently announced the recipients of the 2008 Field of Interest Grants and grants from the Restricted Endowments. Recipients in the area are detailed below. Clarke County Association of Retarded Citizens, $3,500. Grant issued to fund the needed expansion and delivery of health care services for people served by the organization, especially those suffering with cognitive disabilities; and to help the organization comply with mandates. Secret Safe Place for Newborns, $4,000. Grant issued to complete funding for confidential emergency shelter for women whose newborn babies may be threatened by injury or death. The service area includes Clarke, Choctaw and Washington Counties. Secret Safe Place for Newborns, $1,000. Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Alabama, Thomasville, $5,000. Grant issued to help fund the purchase and construction of a metal frame building and air conditioner for the building. The building will be used by the Boys and Girls Club to properly store food for the Bay Area Food Bank who serves 92 clients in the Thomasville area. "The Community Foundation of South Alabama has selected service providers and non-profit organizations to receive grants based on the valuable services they provide in their respective communities. We believe in the work that these groups do, and we feel confident investing in their future," stated Tom Davis, Executive Director. "These organizations work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for those they serve. We are happy to provide assistance to these servant leaders as they strive to fulfill their mission."
