Principal's Address

The New Year is off to a great start. The students seem to have settled back into their school routines and schedules after an exciting holiday.

We sent report cards home Thursday, Jan. 10 and it made us realize that half of the school year is over. We are now beginning to revise and make plans for the rest of this school year.

Each year at this time we choose a representative to serve as Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Tara Walker, a fourth grade teacher, was chosen as our new Teacher of the Year. She was nominated by her colleagues to represent our school. Mrs. Walker is an excellent teacher and we are proud to have her name added to the list of the others who have shared this title in the past.

We are very fortunate to have such outstanding and dedicated teachers as part of the faculty at this school.

As the New Year gets underway, we all make resolutions to improve ourselves. It is my hope and resolution to continue the exemplary progress of the Alabama Reading Initiative in our school.

We strive to do more each day to ensure that the students at GHES are focusing on the importance of reading. Your continued help and support is appreciated and needed to guarantee this success.

Please remember to schedule conferences with your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns. Communication between home and school is the bridge to success.

Let's continue to make GHES Great in 2008!
