The second event, a commemorative march, was conducted at 3:45 p.m. (bottom photograph). Special music was provided by the Pine Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church Choir. Speaker for the event was Pine Chapel No. 2 Interim Pastor Cleveland Williams. The march and program were sponsored by Genesis, Inc.

Thomasville citizens braved Monday morning's cold for a march from downtown to the Williams Temple CME Church where Elder Jimmy Allen of the Thomasville Church of God in Christ delivered a message. The Dravitan Club of Thomasville sponsored the event. The national theme was "Martin Luther King Jr., Great Leader, Big Dreamer, Faithful Believer and Awesome Achiever."
