Johnson's plea may have many worried

The saga continues in the state's two-year college mess with ex- Chancellor Roy Johnson pleading guilty to 15 federal charges of bribery, conspiracy, money laundering, obstruction and witness tampering.

He's agreed to tell prosecutors all he knows about corruption in the twoyear system and it is apparent he knows a lot.

Johnson has detailed kickbacks and other illegal deals that benefited him and his family $1 million. More startling is the news that his total wrongdoing totaled over $18 million.

That means a lot of other folks benefited from his crooked ways. We bet a lot of two-year system employees, businesses and even state lawmakers aren't sleeping well after hearing that Johnson is singing.

There is no telling how far Johnson's fingerpointing will go but we hope the feds will aggressively pursue everyone who had a part in rooking the state.

Given the shortfalls in the Education Trust Fund budget outlined in the previous editorial, Alabamians shouldn't stand for the corruption that Johnson and others were a part of.
