Classes begin in new CCHS
By Jake Paul Special to The Democrat

Students began second semester in new CCHS building. An Open House is set for Feb. 5.
It is hard to believe the day we have been anxiously waiting two years for has finally arrived - we are finally in the new facility! The excitement of the move, along with the phenomenal first term, is proving to be one of the best years yet.

Students were welcomed with an assembly on January 8, sponsored by the SGA, with students John Pendleton, Melanie Reid and Tilisa Taite leading the student body in prayer, scripture and the Pledge of Allegiance. Students then released balloons at the front of the new building before entering.

While this has been a transition for all, it has been hard to hide the excitement. The comments from everyone have been very positive. Visitors have been awed as they enter the new foyer and catch a glimpse of everything the building has to offer. There are still many construction projects taking place, including the new band room.

We have scheduled an open house for Tuesday, February 5 from 3-5 p.m. The school will be open for everyone to see and tour. Faculty and staff members will also be on campus to meet with parents.

We would like to extend a very special thank you to the faculty, staff and students for making this an easy transition and also to the community who helped make this building a reality.

CCHS would also like to welcome Rodney Evans of Selma to the faculty. Mr. Evans began this semester teaching agriscience, after Woodie Pugh retired in December with over 30 years of being an educator.
