CCHS teams claim county titles

The Clarke County High School Bulldogs won the 2007- 08 Clarke County Tournament with a 68-48 victory over the Thomasville Tigers Saturday night in Grove Hill.

Deforest Taite had a banner night as he scored 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. He also had five assists and three steals. Justin Burroughs added 13 points and seven rebounds. Kenneth Kimbrough had nine points. Dwayne Owens added seven points.

Daril Jackson and Jacory Morris each had 11 points to lead Thomasville. Tysean Thompson added seven points.

Lady Bulldogs win girl's title

The Lady Bulldogs of CCHS brought home the girl's championship title as they beat Thomasville's Lady Tigers 55-47 Saturday night.

The Lady Bulldogs extended a 3-point lead in the closing minute as they sank their free throws, extending the lead to eight points.

Erica Moore had 17 points, seven rebounds, five steals and nine assists for CCHS. Ebony Hughes also had 17 points as well as four rebounds. MeMe Martin added eight points and five steals. Jamie Stabler had six points.

K. Westbrook led THS with 13 points. Nicole Washington had 10 points. T. Witherspoon added seven points.

Junior Tigers take B-Team championship

The junior Thomasville Tigers prevented CCHS from getting the trifecta of titles as they beat CCHS' junior team 63-41 to win the B-Team championship.

Tevin Pope led Thomasville with 12 points. Jay Blackman and Mitchell Cowan each had 11 points. Demetric Watters had 10 points. Justin Campbell had nine points.

Friday, Jan. 25

CCHS advanced to the title game as they beat the Coffeeville Panthers 80-48 Friday night.

Lamarkis Sharp led CCHS with 14 points. Rashad Snell added 10 points. Reginald Ivory had seven points and seven rebounds. Kenneth Kimbrough had seven points. Justin Burroughs had seven points and five rebounds. Colton McConnell had eight points and six rebounds.

Coffeeville was led by E. Sellers with 15 points. J. Martin had 13 points. T. Cade added seven points.

Thomasville made their way to the championship game as they outlasted the Aggies of Jackson High School 53-45 in the other varsity boy's game.

Jacory Marshall led THS with 18 points. Daril Jackson added 14 points. Alex Buford had seven points.

Josh Ezell paced Jackson with 12 points. B.J. Brown added 11 points. Corey Besteda had seven points.

Jumping out to a big lead, the Thomasville Lady Tigers cruised past the Lady Aggies of Jackson 40-27 last Friday to advance to the championship game.

T. Robinson led THS with 15 points. S. Crawford added seven points. Raven Tiggs and Kechonda Martin each had six points to pace Jackson.

Clarke County's Lady Bulldogs charged into the finals as they beat the Coffeeville Lady Panthers 56-9 Friday afternoon.

Shaquita Harris led CCHS with 12 points, four rebounds and three steals. Erica Moore added 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Cassandra Denson had 10 points and three steals.

Daedra Dunigan and Gracelyn Aragon each had four points for the Lady Panthers.

Thursday, Jan. 24

The county's B-teams kicked off the Clarke County Tournament Thursday and the CCHS Bulldogs were able to advance to the title game with their 48-37 win over Coffeeville.

Travis Taite led CCHS with 11 points. Chris Chapman and Johnny Dale each had six points. Corey Horn had five points.

Jamar Thompson led Coffeeville with 15 points. Tamarcus Gortman had eight points. Lamichael Cade had six points.

Thomasville's junior Tigers edged Jackson's B-team 49-46 in the other game, sending THS to the title game.

Justin Campbell had 13 points to pace THS. Mitchell Cowan had 12 points. Tevin Pope scored six points.

Jeremy Dixon led Jackson with 16 points. Roy Stabler and LaQuari Jenkins each had 10 points.
