Sports Briefs Share the Gospel fishing tournament set for Feb. 23 2007 Tour Champions Mike Norwood and Leon Wade will lead a 50+ boat field out of Ellis Landing at Miller's Ferry to open the 2008 Share the Gospel Tournament Trail presented by Trotter Marine on February 23. The Miller's Ferry Open will be the first of five tournaments leading to the CLASSIC to be fished on October 16 and 17. Entry fee is $80 per boat which includes big fish and parking fee. A $20 per person annual membership is required. If a team chooses to pay for all five tournaments ($400) the membership fee is waived. Payout will be 100 percent on big fish ($5 of each entry fee) and 80 percent of entry fees and payout will be 1 in 5 boats. For further information contact Rev. Blastoff will be at first safe light and weighin will begin at 3 p.m. Registration will begin at 4 a.m. the morning of the tournament at the tournament site. Dixie Youth to elect officers Thursday The Grove Hill Dixie Youth baseball and softball leagues will have their annual meeting on Thursday, Jan. 31. (tonight) at 7 p.m. at the Grove Hill Town Hall. If you have a child that will be playing softball or baseball this year please come to discuss the 2008 season and elect 2008 officers. All coaches, officers and parents are asked to please attend. Hoops Player of the Year nominations sought All high school basketball coaches should have received their nomination forms for the Alabama Sports Writers Association Mr. and Miss Basketball Award. The form provides the information necessary for the ASWA panel to select nominees for the top award as well as players of the year in AHSAA Class 6A through 1A and the AISA. Late submissions will not be considered, so it is important for coaches to return the application on time.
