Natalee Holloway We figured that the truth about the Mountain Brook teen-ager who went missing in Aruba during a high school vacation would eventually be known. Now it may be. Joran Van der Sloot, a Dutch student long suspected in the death of Natalee Holloway, confessed on hidden camera in the Netherlands to his involvement. Van der Sloot told an acquaintance that he and the drunk 18-year-old Holloway were making out on the beach in May 2005. "Suddenly she started shaking and then she didn't say anything," Van der Sloot said. He panicked and called a friend who took her away and dumped her in the sea. He said he didn't kill her. "I would never murder a girl." No, but he had no apparent qualms about letting someone dump her in the sea without knowing for sure if she was dead or alive. And if she was dead, such an act was almost as bad as killing her outright. The confession is said to be admissible in the Aruba courts and we hope that the case is reopened.
Natalee Holloway can't be brought back to life but there can and should be justice for her death.
