Lady Bulldogs earn 20th victory

The Clarke County High School Lady Bulldogs closed out the regular season by beating the Lady Aggies of Jackson High School 70-59 last Saturday night in Grove Hill.

The win improved their record to 20-5 as they prepare to host the Class 3A Area 1 tournament this week.

On Thursday, Feb. 7 Mobile Christian plays Washington County at 6 p.m. in the first round.

On Monday the Lady Bulldogs take on the winner of that game at 6 p.m.

Back to the Jackson game, Erica Moore led CCHS with 21 points, eight rebounds, six steals and four assists. Ebony Hughes had 15 points and five rebounds. MeMe Martin added 13 points. Kiara Gildersleeve had 10 points and six rebounds. Keshia Coats pulled down nine rebounds and scored nine points.

Last Friday the Lady Bulldogs beat Thomasville's Lady Tigers 56-50 on the road.

Moore had 22 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and six assists. Gildersleeve added 14 points. Hughes had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Last Monday Clarke County lost, in overtime, 56-50 to Thomasville in Grove Hill.

Coats led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 13 points. Moore added 12 points. Martin had nine points. Gildersleeve added eight points.

The winner and the runner-up for the area tournament advance to play in sub-state. Following that will be the South Regional Tournament in Troy.
