The Giants win the title...Giants win the title.....
If the same radio announcer would have been calling Super Bowl 42 (once again, Roman numerals....no clue) that is probably what we would have heard coming from the speaker.....the Giants win the title. And there should have been celebration like that...even bigger and more rowdier. As if you say anything dealing with the City of New York could get bigger or rowdier than it already is. For two weeks all we heard, and trust me....if there was anything left to that game or its players that had not been broken down, I don't know what it could have been....was just how bad the New England Patriots were going to beat the New York football Giants. Only a few Giants went on record, namely WR Plaxico Burress, and said New York even had a chance. Immortal Patriot QB Tom Brady was a bit miffed that Burress thought New England was only going to score 17 points. Turns out the most prolific scoring offense in NFLhistory was held to a measley 14 points. Turns out the experts (sports writers and sports casters) forgot that New York can play defense and defenses are what win championship games. The Giants harrassed Brady all afternoon and in the end, they were the better team. I wonder just how much 19-0 memorabilia had to be destroyed Sunday night. The Patriots, unless you have been living under a rock and didn't know, were trying to be just the second team to ever go undefeated over the entire season. They were shooting for a magical 19-0 season that would have eclipsed the 1972 Miami Dolphins records of 17-0. Speaking of the Dolphins, the only reason I was hoping for a Patriots win was so that we would never have to hear any more rumbling or ramblings from the likes of Don Shula or Mercury Morris. Every season they drag these two up to talk about a team that had a perfect season in the early 1970's....playing against a schedule that did not include one single playoff team. Now that is something.... Anyway...we will have to listen to them again, for at least one more year. Staying on course with the Super Bowl, what about the ads? Usually the advertising during the big game receives as much hype as the game itself. But for some reason there were none that just jumped out at you to the point everyone was still talking about them a week later. Ironic, don't you think, considering this was the most watched game in the history of all the Super Bowls. It is actually the second most watched television program since the final episode of M.A.S.H. Take that American Idol, and all of the multiple other reality shows on television. Now football fans will have to bask in the glory that was Signing Day on Wednesday. They will watch and see which players who signed with their school will actually make the grades and be able to enroll and which will have to go the Junior College route. It is all a continuing process that will start up again in just six months. High School hoops The area high school basketball teams are vying for a spot in the post-season this week as they play in their area tournaments. Good luck to all.
That's all folks..........
