On Feb. 9, Clarke County Deputy Patrick Champion, while on patrol, stopped a vehicle in the Winn area for eratic driving.

The driver, Teresa Freda from Butler, stated that she was having vehicle trouble. Champion noticed a strong smell of burning Marijuana coming from the vehicle, said Ron Baggette, chief investigator.

As Champion was running Teresa's drivers license, Reserve Deputy Jimmy Thigpen, who was standing on the passenger side of the vehicle, noticed Teresa stuffing something into her pants. After further search of the vehicle a large amount of pills were found that are believed to be a controlled substance, Baggette said.

Freda pulled the item out of her pants, and it appeared to be marijuana. A pipe was found that is used for smoking marijuana.

Freda was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
