Jackson Academy student wins county spelling bee

The Clarke County Spelling Bee was held Feb. 8 at Grove Hill Elementary School. The winner was Michael Anderson (above, left) a seventh grader from Jackson Academy. The alternate is Amber Horn (above, right) of Wilson Hall Middle School. Other students participating in the spelling bee were Tamia Fluker of Grove Hill Elementary School and Gordon McRae of Coffeeville High School (below photo). The announcer for the spelling bee was Alice Moore (photo at left), media specialist with GHES. Lisa White of GHES is the county coordinator for the spelling bee. Photos by Barry H. Hendrix
