CCARC jubilee March 15 in Jackson The 2008 Clarke County ARC (CCARC) Spring Jubilee is scheduled to kick off Saturday, March 15, with the sixth annual 5K run and one-mile fun walk in Jackson. The Jubilee 5K is a flat course beginning on Forest Avenue and winding through surrounding neighborhoods. This year the event will be giving out a Traveling Trophy for the school with the most participants. "We are really trying to get our students more involved by creating a little competition between our schools," Spring Jubilee chairman Bebe Garrett said. "If you are unable to participate we need all the volunteers that we can get," Garrett said. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race following at 8:30. Early registration is available by filling out a Jubilee registration form from any of the local businesses or by visiting the web site at www.clarkearc.com. All early entrants are guaranteed a free T-shirt. Early entry fees are $12 if paid or postmarked by March 1 and $15 after March 1 and on the day of the race. Students interested in signing up to support their school need to contact their school representative. All registrants will qualify for door prizes that will be given throughout the day. Post race refreshments are provided. First place overall male and female in each age division takes home $50 and a trophy; second place $25 and a trophy; third place $15 and a trophy. Age divisions are 1 to 14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and up. Other activities throughout the day include Southern Cruisers Motorcycle Charity Ride, Silent Art Auction, entertainment by After Five, a gumbo cook-off, a dog costume show, games, bingo, cake walk/sale, horse and buggy rides and more! CCARC is dedicated to providing services to and advocating for individuals with cognitive disabilities and has provided services to individuals throughout Clarke County since 1973. It is affiliated with the Arc of the United Statesthe national organization of and for people with cognitive or related developmental disabilities and their families.
