Man found dead at motel
By Evan Carden Special to The Democrat

The dead body of a Texas man was discovered in a room at the Royal Inn in Jackson, Wednesday, Feb. 6.

According to Jackson Police Chief Charles Burge, John Elan Mosley, 55, of Brenham, Texas was found lying face down on the floor of room 308, after officers used bolt cutters to gain access to the room. A call had been received by the police department around 3:05 p.m., when Mosley's employer got no response while knocking on the motel room door.

Burge said there appeared to be no indications of foul play when Mosley's body was found. The body was sent to Mobile for autopsy and preliminary results showed he may have died from a heart condition.

Officer Darrell Jackson responded to the scene. Detective Richard Harvey is continuing the investigation.
