Bolen crowned Miss UWA

Stevi Bolen of Jackson is the new Miss University of West Alabama. Bolen, a junior English education major, will represent the 173-year-old institution in the 2008 Miss Alabama Pageant this summer in Birmingham, a Miss America preliminary. The daughter of Leigh and Crystal Bolen, she sang "Via Dolorosa" in the talent portion of the competition. Bolen will promote organ donation as her platform this year. Sophomore elementary education major Kaley Hayden of Livingston was selected as first alternate. Other pageant participants included Savanna Dickson, Gallion; Mahalia Gray, Northport; Traneshia Stoudemire, Andalusia; and Jessica Tucker, Gilbertown. Contributed Photo
