Golf cart problem not getting better

Over a year ago the Grove Hill Town Council debated to no satisfactatory solution the issue of golf carts on the town's sidewalks and streets.

Some residents had complained about the carts, driven mostly by juvenile children and teenagers, running up and down the sidewalks. Sometimes the youngster driving can barely see over the steering wheel.

Golf carts are also seen zipping between traffic on Jackson Street, the main artery through Grove Hill, and on other town streets.

A legal search found nothing to prohibit golf carts although in most cases four-wheelers are prohibited.

Now, over a year later, the problem continues and might even be worse.

We hope that a tragedy does not happen, with an innocent motorist, hitting and injuring or killing some kid on a golf cart but the chance is there with the steady and continued usage of the carts on municipal streets and sidewalks.
