Welch apologizes Dear Editor, During my adult years I have endured several tragedies that have afflicted my emotional life. Perhaps the one that changed my life the most was the accident in which a 32-½ inch stick was thrust through my body. I pulled the stick out myself and surgeons spent nine hours repairing the damages. During the surgery and the months of recovery, I was given large amounts of Demerol and morphine. I suffered tremendous psychiatric damage from the drugs so the chief surgeon sent me to a psychiatrist who prescribed a medicine to correct the impairment the drugs had caused. For several weeks recently I did not take the medicine as prescribed. During this time I was making poor judgments and was guilty of shoplifting in the Jackson Wal-Mart. I apologize to the people of Wal-Mart, to my family members and to the citizens of the area. I have learned a very valuable lesson. I am taking the medicine now and plan to always take it according to the psychiatrist's instructions. Please publish this letter to remind the citizens of Grove Hill why it is necessary for me to take medicine and to tell them that I am taking the medicine and returning to my normal health. I also want citizens to know that I am committed- as I always have been- to supporting Grove Hill and its people. Thank you, Willie Welch
