"Jesse Howze, a freedman, was committed to our jail, the other day, for not properly concealing his concealed weapons."

"A Mr. Starling was committed to jail on Monday afternoon, charged with cutting the throat of Mr. Joseph Nunnelee. W. H. Iskey ought to have been committed as he was the main cause of the difficulty. It is strange that he can be so meddlesome and fussy and dangerous, and at the same time have so many warm and ardent friends and supporters."

"The Tuskaloosa Times says ice was about three inches deep in Mobile last week, which is at least two inches and a half too much ice. We never have three-inch ice in Mobile, unless we ship it from the North."
