GHES students learn about figs

The students in Mrs. Witherspoon's class are reading about the Rain Forest. During the lesson, the students discovered that orangutans eat figs, so one student asked, "What is a fig?"

It was shocking to discover that a common fruit was unknown to some of the students, so an internet search began. The students were so intrigued by figs, a taste test was arranged.

Several members of the faculty, and a parent provided the students with a total of nine different varieties of fig preserves. The students went from reading about figs to an internet search, a writing project, and a taste test.
