Bettis

Jacob "Jack" Bettis, 88, of Jackson died Feb. 14, 2008 at his daughter's home in Birmingham.

He was born Jan. 20, 1920. He was a

member of St.

Union Baptist Church in Jackson. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He was a retiree of Boise.

Survivors include one son, Timothy Taylor, Mobile; two daughters, Barbara (Rev. Robert) Alexander, Birmingham, Brenda Watson, Maine; one sister, Annie Corine Bettis, Los Angeles, Calif.; nine grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Ida Bettis, one brother, Lenzy Bettis and four sisters, Christine Franklin, Ollie Mae Dawson, Rosa Ella Harris and Margaret Lyles.

The service will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at 12 p.m. with a viewing at 11 a.m. at St. Union Baptist Church in Jackson with Rev. James M. Howard to officiate. Burial will follow in the Cedar Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Suggsville. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
