Miller

Curtis Rayford Miller, 72, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at his Salitpa residence.

He was born Sept. 6, 1935. One

of 11 children, he

was the son of Robert and Vermelle Thomas Miller. Miller graduated from Citronelle High School in 1956 and moved to Jackson that same year working for Autry Greers and Sons as a meat merchandiser. A former member of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson, he had served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, on the building committee for the new church and at one time as youth pastor. After moving to Salitpa, he became a member of the River Hill Baptist Church serving as a deacon. He was a member of the Alabama National Guard, a charter member of the Citronelle National Guard, chaplain for the Salitpa Fire Department and worked as one of Salitpa's poll workers.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Camilla Miller of Salitpa; two daughters, Charlotte Faye (Michael) Shoultz of Grand Bay and Charlene Kaye (David) Rikard of Leroy; four grandchildren, Curtis Michael Shoultz, Mary Margaret Shoultz, Thomas Ray Gibson and Stephen Windle Gibson; four step-grandchildren, Harley Rikard, Kelly Rikard, Jeremy Rikard and Vanessa Rikard; one step-greatgrandson, Peyton; two sisters, Bernice McAdory and Mildred Hennis; and four brothers, Robert Miller, Bobby Miller, Terry "Blue" Miller and Brown Miller.

Funeral services were Feb. 16 at the River Hill Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Bennett William. Speakers included the Revs. Al Dykeman, Scott Myers and Tommy York, Dr. Paul Petcher and his nephew Greg Miller. Interment followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson.

Pallbearers were Joey Bozeman, Donny McAdory, Tim Miller, Mark Miller, Ben Etheredge, Matt Miller, Jeff Etheredge, Ricky Summers, Junior Hennis and Chuck Miller.
