Both CCHS teams advance to regionals

Deforest Taite slams one home for CCHS.
The Clarke County High School Bulldogs advanced to their second straight South regional tournament in Troy as they beat the visiting Bulldogs of Pike County 78-47 last Friday night in Grove Hill.

CCHS jumped out to a 32-11 first quarter lead as they cruised to the victory.

Kenneth Kimbrough led Clarke County with 15 points. Tamichael Burroughs added 13 points. Deforest Taite had 12 points and Jeffery McConnell added 10 points. Justin Burroughs added six rebounds.

Tevin Andrews led Pike County with 17 points.

The Bulldogs (24-5) now face LaFayette (5-23) in the South Regional Thursday (today) at 1:30 p.m. The winner of that game takes on the winner of the Straughn-Geneva game on Saturday at 10:40 a.m.

Lady Bulldogs advance

The Lady Bulldogs from CCHS jumped all over the Straughn Lady Tigers 61-37 last Thursday night to advance to their first regional in over eight years.

They used a big first half to take a 36-10 lead at the break.

Erica Moore led CCHS with 13 points, five rebounds, four steals and five assists. Ebony Hughes added 11 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Kiara Gildersleeve had nine points and five rebounds.

Senior Erica Moore was presented a basketball by Coach Tori Johnson for scoring her 2,000th career point before the game.
The Lady Bulldogs (22-5) play Lafayette on Thursday (today) at 12 noon. The winner of that game plays the winner of the Geneva- Calhoun game on Saturday at 9 a.m.
