New Thomasville library considered It's little more than a dream and a drawing right now, but the board of the Thomasville Public Library has high hopes that a new, expanded, state-of-the-art library will soon be added to the list of construction projects in Thomasville. The board made a presentation to the Thomasville City Council Monday night where it presented architect's renderings of a new building that could be built next to the civic center. The drawing, along with proposed floor plans show the building to be nearly triple the size of the current library, one that is rapidly being outgrown, said members. "A lot of thought and time has gone into considering the appropriate size and design of the new library," said board member Scott Lewis. "We believe we have a design that will be of value to the people of Thomasville." The estimated price tag for the building is $2.9 million and it was designed by the architectural firm Donofro and Associates. However, all of the recent civic construction projects, designed by a number of different architectural firms, have had construction bids come in significantly over their estimated budget.
No timetable has been given for the project yet.
