Leap Year babies to observe actual birthdays Friday
By Kathryn F. Pickard News Reporter

A select group of people will celebrate birthdays this week. Every day is someone's birthday, but it's Leap Year and a very small percentage of the population was born on Friday's date, Feb. 29.

These folks only get to celebrate on their actual birthdates every four years, when an extra day is added to the 365-day calendar so it will coincide with the solar year, which is 365 days, five hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds.

Leap Year babies in our area include Elmyra Cleiland of Jackson who is celebrating her 19th birthday, Stepheni Wright of Grove Hill who is celebrating her 10th birthday, Eddie Foster of Grove Hill who is celebrating his 15th birthday, Jeremy Smith, of Grove Hill, who is celebrating his seventh birthday and Kimberly Stephens of Grove Hill who is celebrating her fifth birthday.

Enjoy your birthday, it will be another four years before you're able to celebrate on Feb. 29!
