Nichols

Frances Vivian Plummer Nichols, 91, of Thomasville died Feb. 21, 2008 at Southwest Alabama Medical Center in

Thomasville.

She was born Aug. 23, 1916 in Waverly, VA. She was the oldest of nine children of

Ralph and Carrie

Plummer of Grove Hill. She was a 1934 graduate of Clarke County High School and a 1938 graduate of Judson College where she received her BS degree in math. She was a math teacher at Grove Hill and Thomasville Public Schools for 18 years. She served as accountant/bookkeeper for Thomasville City Schools for 18 years until her retirement in 1981. She was an active member of Thomasville Baptist Church for 53 years where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. She was also active in various civic and literary clubs in Thomasville.

Survivors include three brothers, M.C. Plummer, Jackson, William (Bill) R. Plummer, Camphill; Robert (Bob) A. Plummer, Valdosta, Ga.; five sisters, Mary Belle P. Anderson, Dorothy P. Schenk, both of Thomasville, Leta P. Williams, San Antonio, Texas, Katherine P. Barfield, Montgomery, Virginia P. Crim, Atlanta, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Buren Nichols.

The service was Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. with Dr. James Best officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Memorials may be made to Judson College, Thomasville Baptist Church, the Baptist Children's Home or the United Methodist Children's Home.

Active pallbearers were her nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were the Elect Sunday School Class of Thomasville Baptist Church, the Worthwhile Club, close friends, John and Betty Collins, Mike and Beverly Walker, Pearlie Davis, Doris Kelley, Maudine Dozier, Natalie Harrington and Rosalyn Martindale.
