Diamond Gators beat Hooper 10-2

The Clarke Prep School Gators split a pair of games in the Gator Classic last week in Grove Hill.

They started with a 10-2 win over Hooper last Thursday.

Chad Dickinson (1-0) picked up the win as he scattered four hits over six innings of work. He fanned 10 and walked none. Dillon Rowell struck out three in the final frame.

J.D. Powell broke open a tight game with a 2-run homer in the fourth inning. Hunter Mayton added a double. Rowell had an RBI single. Taylor Becton, Dickinson and Tanner Tucker each had a hit.

The Gators dropped a tight game Saturday with an 8-4 decision against Marengo Academy.

Tucker (0-1) shouldered the loss. Jason Gates and Rowell also pitched in the contest.

Gates had a 2-run double. Becton and Powell each had an RBI single. Tucker and Michael Thompson both added a hit.

Clarke Prep returns to action Saturday when they travel to Butler to play in the Patrician Invitational.
