Turkey group raises $40,000

Pretty girls in short skirts did as much as the auctioneer to help sell guns and other turkey-themed items at the 14th annual banquet of the Clarke County chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation last Thursday evening at the National Guard Armory in Grove Hill. Rousso's Seafood again catered the seafood buffet (a youngster who was attending her first NWTF banquet asked, "If it is about turkeys, why aren't we eating turkey?"). The event raised a remarkable $40,000 through sponsorships (88 were listed in the program at $250 each), ticket sales and the silent and live auctions. Jimmy Butts, right, is always in attendance and enjoys bidding on items. Photos by Jim Cox
