Career Day a success
Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Superintendent Gerald Stephens, Sharon Tiggs the Clarke County Job Coach along with the Transition Team, counselors and teachers of Clarke County would like to thank students, vendors and sponsors for making the Career Day a success.

Asberry Daffin opened with an invocation, Mrs. Velma Rowden/Mayor Hudson gave the welcome and Dr. Edwina Hart was the program conductor.

The theme was "Students Striving for Excellence." Students discussed careers with different vendors and some of the students received employment. The students also expressed interest in joining the military. Several of the vendors in the surrounding area gave advice on health issues, summer employment and information on how to acquire jobs.

We would like to thank Mrs. Cheryl Horton and the Chamber of Commerce, all businesses and participants that contributed to this day. Special thanks to our sponsors: Alabama Power, Boise Paper Mill, Merchants Bank, Record & Sound Shop and Wal-Mart.

With your help we can make Career Day in Clarke County an annual event for the students in their transitioning from school to the workforce.

We are looking forward to working with you next year.

Sharon Tiggs, Transition Job Coach
