Friendship cemetery working Friendship Baptist Church located off Highway 154 will have a cemetery working Saturday, March 15 and Saturday, March 22 at 10 a.m. Anyone who has family buried there is encouraged to come out and help. Tri County Egg Hunt set Jackson First Assembly of God will host the annual Tri County's Largest Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. Free Coke and popcorn for all kids and over 4,000 eggs will be hidden with three grand prize eggs per age division (there will be three age divisions). Zero-3 years of age - $25, tricycle and battery powered motorcycle, 4-7 years of age - $25, bicycle and Ipod and 8-11/Sixth grade - $25, bicycle and Ipod. New Greater special New Greater First Baptist Church located at 181 Nicol Avenue in Thomasville will have a special speaker, Rev. Alfred "Al" Sharpton, Sunday, March 16 at 11 a.m. Rev. Sharpton has been preaching since age four. He was licensed and ordained at age nine in 1971. He founded the National Youth Movement and for 17 years led the organization, registering young people to vote and give them job opporunities. Bassett Creek special service Bassett Creek Baptist Church will have a special service Sunday, March 16 at 6 p.m. featuring nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Stan Shuman of Cocoa, Fla. He has traveled with and written songs for many of the top groups in Southern Gospel music. Pastor Chris Kynard states that "Stan has not appeared in our area before. He is very ministry minded and his music will appeal to all ages. I hope that everyone who loves Southern Gospel music will come and enjoy this opportunity to worship with this minister of music." Rev. L.E. Bush is the pastor. Grove Hill Missionary to honor pastor Grove Hill Missionary Baptist Church of the Eliska community of Uriah will have its preanniversary program honoring Pastor T.L. Douglas Sr. for his 31 years of service Sunday, March 16 at 3 p.m. The special guest will be Rev. Dave Adams and Mackey Branch No. 2 Baptist Church of Whatley. Asbury gospel singing Asbury Baptist Church will have a gospel singing Saturday, March 22 at 7 p.m. featuring Dixie Echoes at Asbury Baptist Church. Center Point Easter activities Center Point Baptist Church will meet March 23 at 10:45 a.m. in the cemetery for service and at 11 a.m. for the worship service. Sunflower to honor pastor Sunflower AOH Church of God located on McFadden Street in Thomasville will honor pastor, Elder Samuel L. Calhoun Saturday, March 29 at 6 p.m. This will be a one night affair. The church will celebrate Calhoun's 38 years of preaching, 24 years of singing and his 72nd birthday. The special guest will be Rev. Hubert (Hubie) Baker and the Believers of Mobile. Other invited groups are: Spiritual Kings of Dixons Mills, Humble Spirits, Central Gospel Singers and the Life Tech Gospel Group, all of Thomasville. Master of Ceremony will be Winfred Holt of Thomasville. Truevine basketball tourney set Truevine Baptist Church will have its second annual basketball tournament Saturday, June 7 at 9 a.m. at the Clarke County High School Gymnasium. There will be first, second and third place prizes to be given away. Each player on each team is asked to pay $5 for ages 15 and up and the tournament is only for boys and men.
