Bulldogs christen new field with DH sweep

The Clarke County High Bulldogs overcame an early 5-0 deficit to beat the Bulldogs of Washington County 10-8 Monday afternoon in Chatom.

The win gives the Bulldogs (6- 4) a 1-0 area mark.

Hunter Cross went 2-for-3 with a 2-run homer and two RBI. Tyler Walker went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Chris Andrews and Dwayne Owens each went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Rashad Snell went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Josh Watford and Justin Robinson each had an RBI. Bubba Frazier added a hit.

Cross (1-0) earned the win working in relief. He pitched four innings, allowed three hits and struck out two. Walker started the game and lasted three innings.

On Staurday the Bulldogs played their first games at the Gerald Stephens Sports Complex, winning both ends of a double-dipper with Millry and Monroe County.

In the opener CCHS used a 7- run second inning to break the game open and win 13-3.

J. Watford (1-1) got the win. He pitched all six innings, scattering seven hits and fanning two.

Cross went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Robinson was 1-for-2 with a grand-slam homer and four RBI. R. Snell was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Frazier and Owens each added a hit.

In the second game CCHS again came from behind as they beat the Monroe County Tigers 9-7.

Walker went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Cross went 2- for-3 with a double and two RBI. J. Watford went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Robinson was 1-for-3 with a 3-run homer and three RBI. Adrian Snell was 2-for-2 with two RBI. Tamichael Burroughs, R. Snell and Zach Watford each had a hit.

Z. Watford (1-0) got the win as he worked two innings of relief for starter Robinson. He struck out two and gave up one hit.

Cross (2) got the save as he pitched the final two-thirds of an inning, striking out one.

Tuesday CCHS traveled to Thomasville to play the Tigers in a big county match-up. On Friday they host Mobile Christian in a big area game. Then on Saturday the Bulldog's middle school, junior varsity and varsity teams will host the Leroy Bears.
