Lady Bulldogs open season with two wins

The Clarke County High School Lady Bulldogs opened the 2008 softball season this past weekend by going 2-2 in the Andalusia Invitational Tournament.

In the last game they lost 13-3 to the Lady Aggies of Jackson last Saturday.

Abby Walker went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Hannah Barnes, Ericka Williams and Brittney Dunson each had a hit.

Williams (1-2) shouldered the loss. She walked two and struck out two in four innings of work.

The Lady Bulldogs beat Red Level 8-3 last Saturday morning to advance in the tournament.

MeMe Martin went 3-for-3 with a triple and home run along with three RBI. Brittney Harvell, Gioia Jackson and Brittney Dunson each had a hit and an RBI. Walker, Halie Moore and E. Williams all had a hit.

Walker (1-0) pitched five innings to get the win. She gave up three hits and struck out four.

On Friday CCHS opened tourney play by losing 6-1 to Samson.

Harvell and Martin had the two lone hits.

Williams (0-1) pitched four innings, allowing six hits, walking two and fanning three in taking the loss.

Later that night they beat Class 5A Greenville 5-4.

Harvell, Martin and Dunson each had a hit. Ayesha Dickinson had two RBI.

Williams (1-1) got the win as she limited Greenville to just five hits, striking out five and walking three.

Tuesday the Lady Bulldogs (2-2) traveled to Butler to play Choctaw County.
