By Barry H. Hendrix Managing Editor

The Fulton Town Council discussed March 10 preparations for the first annual "Voice for the Animals" 5K Run beginning at 8:30 a.m. on April 5. Proceeds go to the construction of a county animal shelter.

There will also be a one-mile Pet Trot.

Participants who pre-register by March 25 only pay $15. Registration is $20 the day of the race.

Also featured at the event will be a pet vaccination clinic, live music, refreshments and door prizes.

The run committee is seeking volunteers and door prizes for the event. For more information, call 1-334-636-5790, 636-0071 or 1-251-295-0324.

Councilman Danny Bedwell encouraged landscaping various areas of the town before the April 5 5K run.

In other action from the March 10 meeting, the council approved the purchase of a fireproof filing cabinet from Gulf Coast Furniture Company of Mobile for $2,103.50.
