Dorothy Carlton remembered

Pre-Easter services are being held this week at the St. Thomas and Mt. Sinai AME Churches of Lower Peach Tree.

Wednesday, March 19 at St. Thomas, the speaker will be Minister John Stabler Sr., Thursday, March 20 at Mt. Sinai, the speaker will be Elder Raymond McConnell. Friday, March 21 at St. Thomas, the speaker will be Rev. C.P. Andrews. Rev. W.W. Nixon is the pastor of these churches.

Easter programs will be held at these two churches on Sunday, March 23. St. Thomas service will begin at 8 a.m. Sis. Bernice Mc- Caskill and Sis. Felicia Johns are program coordinators. Service at Mt. Sinai will begin at 11 a.m. Sis. Francis Davis and Sis. Debra Mc- Caskill are program coordinators.

Sunrise service will be held at Chance Baptist Church on Sunday, March 23. Service will begin at 6 a.m. Breakfast will be served. Rev. C.L. Marshall is the pastor.

Family, friends and former students are mourning the passing of Mrs. Dorothy Carlton. Mrs. Carlton passed on March 5 at Mobile Infirmary. She was retired from Clarke County High School. She also taught in the Wilcox County School System.

She lived an exemplary life. She will be remembered as a soft spoken person who spoke powerful words of wisdom and authority. She was a dedicated worker in her home, work, church and community.

She was a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Lower Peach Tree. She served there as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and the church secretary.

Mrs. Carlton leaves to cherish her memories eight children, Joyce Ireland, Aundrey Wilkins, Vivian Carlton, James Carlton, Sandra Johnson, Ethel Smith, Reseian Gaither and Chonna Carlton. She also leaves 22 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Her funeral was held March 9 at St. John Church in Lower Peach Tree.

A scholarship fund has been established in her memory at the First United Security Bank of Thomasville. For more information please contact her granddaughter, Rochandolia Burroughs at 334-636-2918.
