CPS Gators beat Taylor Road

The Clarke Prep School Gators traveled to Montgomery last Friday and beat Taylor Road 11-1 in five innings.

Jason Gates picked up the win as he pitched the first four innings. He fanned seven, allowed one hit and one run. J.D. Powell threw the last frame, striking out two.

Gates led the way at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI. Hunter Mayton added a solo home run. Heath Bishop had a double and two RBI. Tanner Tucker and Drew Harrigan each had a double and an RBI. Taylor Becton had a triple and an RBI. J.D. Powell had a hit and an RBI. Dillon Rowell added a double.

The Gators were on the road last Thursday as they went to Camden and beat Wilcox Academy 5-3.

Tucker (2-2) threw all six innings, fanning six, allowing four hits and walking three in getting the win. Becton threw the last inning for the save.

Chad Dickinson went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Powell and Harrigan each had a hit and an RBI.

The Gators traveled to Monroeville Tuesday to play Monroe Academy in a key area match-up. Thursday (today) they travel to Selma to play Morgan Academy.
