Commissioner Hunt seeks second term
Clarke County and Municipal Political Annoucements

Hunt
Joe Hunt, District Four Clarke County Commissioner, is running for a second term.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizens of District Four for allowing me to serve as a County Commissioner for the past four years. I would like to continue working towards the betterment of District Four and all of Clarke County." Hunt said.

"Since being elected in 2004, 1 have had the opportunity to receive educational training in County Government from the Center for Governmental Services through Auburn University including: County Government and the Commissioner, Ethics & Legal Issues, Financial Administration, Roads & Bridges, Personnel Administration, and Revenue and the County. I will finish these courses in May of this year. Since attending these classes, I feel that if given the opportunity, I will be able to utilize the knowledge gained in a positive way to better serve the people of District Four and Clarke County.

"While serving in the capacity of chairman of the Commission I was able to comprehend the responsibilities of the county commission at a deeper level. Of the total operational budget for the County, only approximately $6,000,000 is un-earmarked. This factor puts a strain on the County's General Fund. But we have been able to secure over $8,000,000 in Operating and Capital Grants to fund various projects. I strongly supported and voted for the Commission's decision to assist the City of Jackson with the recent pellet plant project. I supported and worked with Ala-Tom RC&D in the Cluster Sewage Project at Family Circle in Gainestown.

"I am currently serving on the Environmental Stiffing Committee of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama, Work Force Development Committee and the Literacy Coalition of Clarke County. I am involved in efforts seeking regional grants for the Old Line Road paving project. If re-elected I will continue to work towards finding solutions for the road condition issues in District Four to the extent the law and funding allows.

"I ask for the support of the people in District Four to allow me to use the knowledge I've gained in the next four years."
