CCHS Bulldogs sweep WCHS in season series

The Clarke County High School Bulldogs won the back end of a split double-header this past Saturday as they beat Sumter County 11-1 in Grove Hill.

Deandre Love (1-0) picked up the win as he allowed one hit and one run and struck out 11 in six innings of work.

Adrian Snell went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Josh Watford went 2- for-2 with an RBI. Zach Watford went 2-for-2. Hunter Cross went 1-for-2 with a 2-run homer. Aaron Turner went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Dwayne Owens had a hit and an RBI. Byron Davis and Chris Andrews each had a hit.

In the first game CCHS fell 15- 11 to Bayside Academy in Grove Hill.

Cross went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI. A. Snell went 3- for-4 with a double and three RBI. Bubba Frazier went 2-for-4 with two RBI. J. Watford went 2- for-4 with three RBI. Rashad Snell went 2-for-4. Tyler Walker and Owens each had a hit.

Andrews (0-1) shouldered the loss as he allowed five runs on one hit and walked six.

The Bulldogs laid claim to one of the two Class 3A Area 1 playoff spots as they swept Washington County in a double-header last Friday afternoon in Grove Hill.

In the first game of the doubledipper CCHS pounded WCHS 16-8 as they pounded out 20 hits.

Bubba Frazier was on fire at the plate as he went 4-for-4 with a 3-run homer and five RBI. Justin Robinson and J. Watford each went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Walker and A. Snell each had a homer and an RBI. Owens and Andrews each had two hits. Cross and R. Snell each had one hit.

J. Watford (2-1) picked up the win as he allowed just one run and struck out three.

In the second game CCHS won 9-8, completing the season sweep.

Jacob Horton (1-0) picked his first ever varsity win as he pitched five innings, striking out three. Cross picked up the save (4) as he pitched the final frame.

Walker went 3-for-4. Robinson went 2-for-3 with a grand slam home run and four RBI. J. Watford went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Frazier had a hit and RBI. Cross added a double. A. Snell had a hit.

Last Tuesday Clarke County traveled to Millry and beat the Wildcats 11-8.

Z. Watford (2-2) got the win, working the first frames. Cross earned his third save pitching the final three innings.

Cross was 3-for-3 with a 2-run homer and two RBI.

R. Snell went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Walker and J. Watford each had a hit and an RBI. A. Snell had an RBI-double. Z. Watford and Owens each had a hit.

The Bulldogs (10-6) traveled to Tuscaloosa Wednesday and played American Christian in a double-header. On Thursday (today) they play Northside in a single game.
