Community Calendar The Toddtown Community Development Center's Annual Beautillion and Cotillion will be Saturday, April 5. The application fee for young girls, ages 5 to 10 years old is $35. The application fee for the young men and women who are high school juniors up to college sophomores is $75. Diabetic Education classes held Diabetic Education class will be held Wednesday, April 9 at 3 p.m. at the Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Conference Room. Ala-Tom Regional meeting The Alabama-Tombigbee Regional Commission will hold its Semi-Annual meeting Wednesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. at Ezell's Fish Camp in Lavaca. A fish and chicken dinner will be served at a cost of $18 per person. The guest speaker for the evening will be ADECA Director, Bill Johnson. Gilchrist family reunion The Gilchrist family reunion will be held Saturday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Union Baptist Church located on the Allen-Walker Road. Please come and bring a covered dish. Coffeeville Spring Cleanup The Coffeeville community's annual spring cleanup kickoff will start Saturday, April 12 at 8 a.m. until. The meeting place will be at the Coffeeville Town Hall. A dumpster will be available across from Greer's from April 12-19. Please do not put any debris, tires, batteries or appliances that have freeiron in them. If you need litter bags please contact Rita Wilson at 251-276-3358 for more information on the cleanup. The cleanup is sponsored by Alabama Pals (People Against A Littered State) and the Coffeeville Beautification Committee. Nuthin New Car Club show set The Nuthin New Car Club will hold its 18th annual show on Saturday, April 12 in the Thomasville Plaza parking lot on Highway 43. It is an open show with first, second and third place plaques awarded on total points by the judges. Entry fee is $15 per vehicle. Lots of door prizes. General admission is free. Grove Hill's clean up set Grove Hill's annual spring clean up will be Saturday, April 19 at 8:30 a.m. Anyone wanting to participate and pick up litter and trash should come to the Chamber of Commerce and get free trash bags. Water and refreshments will be provided to all participants. A dumpster will be located behind town hall for litter and trash disposal. The chamber will be giving away prizes to participating individuals and groups. Call the chamber if you would like to be assigned a road or area to help clean up or if you have any questions call 275-4188. Ole Time Fiddler's Convention The 31st Ole Time Fiddler's Convention will be Saturday, April 19 at 5 p.m. at the Old Frankville School. Special guests for the music show will be the Sullivan Family of St. Stephens. Tickets for adults will be $5 and students, $3. The day-long event will begin at 11 a.m. with barbecue pork and chicken plates and sandwiches. Plates will be sold for $7 and sandwiches, $2. The music show will begin at 5 p.m. featuring the Sullivan Family, (Margie and Enoch) of St. Stephens. The Fiddler's Convention Competition will begin at 6:45 p.m. Various Divisions for best fiddler, soloist, buck dancer, best band, vocal group, banjo, flat top guitar and mandolin will be featured. GH Memorial jewelry sale Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold a jewelry sale Thursday, April 24, from 8 am to 5 pm and Friday, April 25 from 7 am to 4 pm. Grove Hill Arts Council photography contest slated Amateur photographers are preparing for the third annual photography contest and exhibition to be held in Grove Hill Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 at the Clarke County Museum. "Photography In Your Own Back Yard," is an event sponsored by The Arts Council of Grove Hill and the Arts Council of Thomasville to promote an interest in art through photography. Categories for photographs are people, pets, scenes, wildlife and other. The featured special category for this year is Trees of Clarke County. There are divisions for middle school, high school and adult photographers. Submissions can be made at the public libraries in Grove Hill, Thomasville, and Jackson, at the Town Hall in Coffeeville and at the Chamber of Commerce in Grove Hill. The deadline for turning in entries is April 11. General rules may be found on The Grove Hill Arts Council website, www.grovehillartscouncil.com. This event is made possible by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment of the Arts. Roberts-Cobb reunion The annual family reunion of the descendants and relatives of William Riley Roberts and Florence Almanza Cobb Roberts will be Saturday, April 26 at Witch Creek Baptist Church near Cambell beginning at 10 a.m. A covered dish meal will be served at noon. The honor class will be the Class of 1958. Members are asked to bring a covered dish and pay $2 at the registration table. Come and enjoy the fellowship, the food and the cheerleader-guided tours of the campus. (You do not have to be a graduate to attend.) Bertha Mae Health Fair Bertha Mae Chapter #314 Order of Eastern Star will have its annual Health Fair Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the grounds of the Jackson City Hall. There will be free screenings for blood pressure, glucose, hearing, speech, weight and more. Mini-seminars on Hopsice Care, nursing home, immunizations, nutrition, stress, etc. This is a free community health awareness program. Everyone is invited to come. Door prizes will be given.
